How to Create Riveting Emails in 3 Simple Steps

The Oprah Effect.”

You might be familiar with the concept:

An endorsement from Oprah puts you on the map.

In a BIG way.

“Oprah's Book Club” made many authors instant bestsellers.

“Oprah's Favorite Things” turned many small, unprofitable companies into multi-million-dollar business.

Oprah made the careers of celebrity “doctors” Dr. Phil McGraw and Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Some argue that Oprah’s endorsement even swung the 2008 election.

In fact…

A study by two economists at the University of Maryland concluded that Oprah’s endorsement propelled then Senator Obama, who was considered a long shot, decidedly into the Presidency.

And regardless of your or my opinion of any of Oprah's endorsements…

She commands MASSIVE influence!

In fact, she’s considered by many to be the most powerful woman in the entire world.

Why do people listen to Oprah?

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_400x400-03Simple.

They know her.

They trust her.

They have a relationship with her.

Real or imagined, she’s a regular part of their world.

Now, you might not want to be the next Oprah…

But you can benefit immensely from cultivating the kind of rapport she's established with her fans and followers.

And to do that, you need to connect with your audience exactly like she does.

How, you ask?

Well, just like Oprah…

You want to become a regular, welcome part of your audience’s world

And the best way to accomplish that is…

You guessed it…

Email marketing.

Now, you may have heard that the money’s in the list…

But what do we really mean when we say that?

After all, you can have a huge list, but if no one opens your emails or clicks any of your links, you’re not going to make a dime in profit.

So really, to be successful at network marketing…

The money’s in the relationship with your list

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_400x400-05That’s what matters.

Think back to Oprah.

She’s influential because she has a MASSIVE audience and a strong relationship with that audience.

Now, you don’t have to be Oprah.

And you don’t have to have a nationally-syndicated TV show.

But to be successful at network marketing, all you need to make a decent chunk of change is a loyal list of subscribers who regularly “tune in” and consume your content and recommendations.

And that’s what your emails are for, of course.

They keep your list engaged and wanting more.

Note that what I'm about to share can also be applied to building an audience on Facebook and regularly producing Lives for your followers.

But this about this…

If they took away Facebook tomorrow, you want your business to still be fine!

Not only that, but research shows email is 40 times better than social networks for getting customers.

The problem is, it can be hard to write effective emails—especially if you’re writing them every single day.

So what you want is…

A simple formula that keeps your content flowing

…without taxing all your time and energy!

Fortunately, that’s exactly what I’m about to give you:

The simple formula I personally use to write emails that get read by tens of thousands of people…

In just 3 steps!

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-06

I’m not going to sugar coat it…

If you want to be successful at network marketing, it’s a challenge to figure out what to say every…single…day in your emails.

After all, to make sure that people open and read your emails, you need something to write about.

My philosophy is to entertain your list to be successful at network marketing.

Not everyone wants to read information-packed emails every day, but all of us enjoy a little light reading.

And the first step is finding something fun to write about.

I’ll make that extremely easy by giving you examples of where you can find information to share from your everyday life…

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-07

One great thing to write about is everyday life, including family events & memories from the past.

There is something happening to you all the time—so write about it!

Let’s say you're driving down the road and you see a minor car accident or somebody running a red light.

You can easily write an email about that, connecting the event to whatever product you're promoting.

Here’s a hypothetical example…

The other day I noticed nearly half of the pedestrians crossing the crosswalk at a busy intersection were staring down at their cell phones, completely unaware of their surroundings.

Alarmingly, as I looked around, half the drivers stopped at the light were staring at their phones too!

I hate to sound “out of touch,” but frankly…

Everyone is (dangerously!) addicted to their phones these days!

No sense fighting the trend…

Instead, here’s how you can turn this sad fact of modern life to your advantage using the power of social media advertising…

The reason this effective is because people LOVE stories.

We are hardwired to pay attention to them.

It’s interesting and intriguing content—so tell your list stories, and do it often to be successful at network marketing!

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-08

In the news, there’s something happening all the time.

For example, if you’re following U.S. news right now, you know there’s the presidential elections all over the evening news.

So instead of getting caught up in the drama, you can use events like this for inspiration.

Without getting too political, of course!

Just “riff” on what you see on TV, hear on the radio, read in the press, and turn it into email fodder.

That makes for interesting, topical content, and you know what else?

People are already thinking about what's in the news, anyway.

So use these topics in your emails—and BOOM!—there's an immediate connection between what you’re observing in the world and what your audience is paying attention to also.

That's powerful, especially if you want to be successful at network marketing.

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-09

You can also draw inspiration from books.

In network marketing, affiliate marketing, and direct selling, we’ve got the closely-related subjects of personal-development, sales, marketing, entrepreneurship, leadership, biographies—lots of genres to get inspiration from.

Don't wait…

Try it right now!

Just grab a book from your bookshelf and open it in a random spot.

Read a few pages, take the ideas and write an email about them.

Very, very simple.

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-14

See a movie?

Then write about it!

Or do what I did after I saw Finding Dory last week.

I didn’t talk about the movie specifically, but I did write an email about the fact that I went to see the movie and that I liked it.

Then I pivoted and starting talking about the power of stories and how that may help someone to be successful at network marketing.

Easy.

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-15

You can take quotes from success leaders, from sales gurus, motivational speakers, even spiritual figures.

Just pick a strong quote and write an email about it.

For example, one of my favorite quotes by Zig Ziglar is:

You can have anything you want in life if you help enough people get what they want.

So in my case, I’d create an email with a subject line like…

“Zig Ziglar is right…”

After that, I’d quote him and explain how that fits into the context of what I’m promoting.

Again, so long as you’re having fun and delivering value, there's no reason you couldn't use any type of entertainment as inspiration for your emails to be successful at network marketing.

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-10

There are holidays happening all the time.

Christmas, the 4th of July, President Day, New Year’s, Father’s day…

And that’s not to mention all the obscure holidays like National Doctors’ Day.

Recently, I noticed it was National Smoke and Mirrors Day.

That’s a perfect setup for an email!

You could’ve said…

Happy Smoke and Mirrors Day!

By the way, our industry is full of smoke and mirrors…

Cool concept, right?

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-11

As you're reading your favorite blogs and following Facebook Pages, share the content you find valuable in your emails.

Don’t just copy from people, though.

To be successful at network marketing, share the valuable information you found, crediting the source or remixing the material, or point out something controversial you don't agree with.

Remember everyone has an opinion, and it's okay to say…

Hey, I read this the other day, I completely disagree, and here’s why…

This makes for an interesting and compelling email.

Same thing with your Facebook News Feed.

You see somebody post a picture or a comment that interests you?

Repost it, writing a few words on why you agree or disagree.

Okay, so that's 7 things to draw on for email concepts.

You can take literally any of them and have more than enough content for the next year.

That’s step 1.

And you should now never run out of things to talk about!

Which brings us to step 2, which is even more important, because it's what gets people reading the email in the first place…

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-12

Next, you’ve got to create a subject line that’s going to grab attention in order to be successful at network marketing.

People are inundated with emails in their inbox and the only way yours is going to stick out is if you create an eye-catching subject line.

How do you do that?

By provoking curiosity and “grabbing” people emotionally with a subject line that compels them to keep reading.

If you're on our list, go back and you look at some of the emails I’ve written.

I believe you'll find a lot of curiosity provoking subject lines that fit this description.

For example…

  • What makes people buy?
  • The only thing worse than NO TRAFFIC

You read subject lines like those and if you're a marketer, you wonder…

What is worse than no traffic?

Am I missing something, is there something I don't know?

Now you want to know, so you click, and next thing you know, you're reading the email.

Bingo!

Some more of my recent subject lines:

  • You won’t believe what happened.
  • When will this internet thing finally pay off?
(That’s a question that a lot of people have on their mind. A subject line like that definitely gets through and gets attention.)
  • How to get massive results in your life?
  • Five traffic generation sins

  • This guy is a beast
(Extremely curiosity provoking because now you're wondering, who is the guy? Why is he a beast? What is this all about?)
  • How to get lots of traffic in five simple steps?
  • How to stay out of Facebook jail?
(If you're advertising on Facebook, you want to know how to stay out of Facebook jail.)
  • I’m really mad at Andrew Draughon
(That’s a controversial subject line. Got a lot of opens!)

Again, if you go back to the actual emails and look at the subject line, you can see how I use it to open a “loop”—a cliffhanger that gets people thinking about what happens next.

This is how you provoke curiosity.

That’s what you want to do, too.

It takes some practice to “get it,” but it’s all about practice and nothing else.

The concept is straightforward.

All you have to do is remember this one thing:

People are compelled to click when they're intrigued by something.

As long as you keep pushing their “curiosity button,” they'll keep opening your emails like clockwork.

There are examples all around, including our own emails.

Study our subject lines; look at magazines; look at news headlines.

Learn from what's already working and you'll easily master Step #2.

Onward..

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_779x200-13

The final step is so straightforward a lot of people don’t give it enough attention.

Don't be like them, though…

Because it's just about the most important part of the whole email!

Once you’re done writing your email, make sure to include a call to action.

That’s when you tell people EXACTLY what to do.

So if you want people to go watch a video after they finished reading your email…

Tell them to watch the video.

If you want them to read a blog post…

Say “click here and read this blog post” or “check it out by clicking here!”

If you want people to buy a product…

Put a call to action and say click this link and order right now!

If you want to be successful at network marketing…don't be afraid to…

Tell people exactly what to do!

25763-BlogBannerRequest-071616_400x400-04Otherwise, they may end up doing nothing at all!

Step 3 becomes automatic and obvious once you do this long enough…

But it bears repeating, because individuals new to this business often forget to include a STRONG call to action.

And that’s the whole formula!

To recap…

  1. Find something interesting to write about.
  2. Create a compelling subject line.
  3. Include a call to action every time.

If you study and implement these steps, you’ll be well on your way to achieving “Oprah-like” levels of influence with your subscribers.

And, if you'd like a shortcut to quickly grow your list with eager readers, then I strongly recommend you…
