Now that we have our pages built out and ready to publish and share with the world, we can setup our navigation menu to direct people to our new pages!
WordPress does not have a way to individually allow us to export our menu items, so they must be built out manually. Here’s the process:
Navigate to “Appearance -> Menus"
Click the “create a new menu” hyperlink at the top of the page
In the “Menu Name” field, enter “PRIMARY SITE TOP"
Click the “CREATE MENU” button
Under “Pages,” click the “View All” tab on the menu on the left of the screen
NOTE: This will display ALL pages including pages that are in the trash. Please go to “Pages -> Trash” and then “Empty Trash” before continuing. Doing this will help you from getting confused on seeing duplicate pages in the selection.
Select the follow checkboxes: Homepage, About Me, Blog, Products, Work With Me
Click the “Add To Menu” button
Drag the menu items in the following order: Homepage, Blog, Products, About Me, Work With Me
Select the “Page” button for each item and make the menu ALL CAPS in the Navigation Label. Perform the following:
Homepage = HOME
About Me = ABOUT ME
Blog = BLOG
Product = PRODUCTS
Work With Me = WORK WITH ME
Under “Display Location,” check the “Primary Menu” box
Click “Save Menu"
