We recommend getting a logo done for your brand. Your First and Last Name as a logo is fine with some creativity. 🙂 A graphic artist should be able to create one for you for between $50 and $100. This way, you'll have a nice professional logo done that you can also use on your Social Media properties as well as your blog.
Having a logo rather than text in this theme displays better on Mobile and on Tablets.
If you’d like to try designing on your own, we recommend https://freelogodesign.org. The site walks you through the process of creating a nice logo that you can use on your site. You get a free logo that downloads as transparent, which is what you need, at 200 pixels wide x 200 pixels high.
Once you have the final logo emailed to you from https://www.freelogodesign.org, here are the following steps to get your logo positioned correctly on your site:
- Click on “Media” on your dashboard
- Click the “Add New” button
- Click the “Select Files” button
- Select the logo that you downloaded and click “choose"
- You will see your logo appear in the Media Library on the page
- Select the logo
- This will open a new popover with the logo inside
- Click “Edit Image"
- We are going to crop our image to 200px wide x 50px. To crop the image, click on it and drag to make your selection.
- Do your best to get the crop to 200 x 50. If you’re off a bit, simply enter “200 x 50” where it says “Selection” on the right side of the screen.
- Now, drag the highlighted area over your logo
- Next, click the “Crop” button which is the furthest button to the left
- Now, click “Save"
- You can now exit this window by clicking the “X” at the top right of the screen
If you want to do your own logo outside of this software program, keep in mind that the dimensions for the logo are 200px wide x 50px high. The final logo should be a transparent .png file at 24 bit.
To replace the text in the header now with your logo:
- Navigate to "Thrive Dashboard -> Theme Options"
- Select "Logo Type" as "Image.”
- Click the "Upload" button
- Select the “Media Library” tab
- Select your logo
- Click “Select"
- Click “Save All Changes"
- Hover over your site name at the top of the header menu and click “Visit Site” to see how your logo looks!
