Step 2: Define Your Audience

My Training Training Library Launch Your First Engagement Ad

The very first thing you’ll want to do is make sure the radio button shows “People you choose through targeting,” then select “Edit” to laser-target the people you want to engage with your post.

While you can literally select everyone on Facebook, that’s not going to be the most effective use of your advertising budget.

This screen allows you to target your specific audience by Gender, Age, Location, and Interests.

Let’s start with Gender. We’ve left targeted Gender at “All.” Again, you can specifically target Men or Women.

You can specify an Age range to target. For purposes of Network Marketing, it might be best to target an older audience, starting at, say 25. You can be as narrow and specific as you’d like.

Now, target the audience that speaks your language.

In our example, we’ve included locations that represent the English-speaking world:

  1. United States
  2. Canada
  3. Australia
  4. United Kingdom

You can even narrow down your locations to include specific towns, cities, and counties, to laser-target specific regions.

Now, it gets fun. As you scroll down the window, you’ll see an area called “Detailed Targeting.”

You’re going to want to narrow your target to people who are specifically interested in Network Marketing. As soon as you type in Network Marketing, a list of possibilities will drop down.

You can add specific groups, followers of particular marketers, or people interested in the kinds of products your company represents (for example, weight loss, health and fitness, anti-aging) or any other specific interest.

The more targeted your audience, the more likely they’ll be receptive to your ad.

We’ve included Network Marketing, Multi-Level Marketing, and a couple of key people – Eric Worre and Ray Higdon as examples.

Pay particular attention to the area at the bottom of the window. As you narrow you audience by gender, age, location, and interests, you’ll be able to see how many people potentially will see your ad.

In our Test example, our potential reach is 5,000,000 people, and sits right between “Specific” and “Broad.”

Remember, the more specifically you can target your audience, the more likely they are to engage with your content.
